Teaching

At the Laboratory for Electron Microscopy (LEM), we combine excellent teaching with cutting-edge research. Our English-taught lectures and hands-on courses (e.g., Electron Microscopy I & II) provide strong theoretical and practical training using state-of-the-art infrastructure. In line with KIT’s research-oriented teaching approach, we integrate our research infrastructure into education (e.g., RI-RO), promote hands-on learning, and strengthen ethical responsibility in collaboration with ARRTI. Students are involved in research early on through theses, HiWi roles, and doctoral projects.
We foster an open and approachable question culture, where students are encouraged and empowered to ask questions and actively engage.

Lectures, Exercises, and Seminars

The LEM offers various lectures and seminars. Likewise, there is the possibility to conduct bachelor, master or doctoral theses.

The following events take place in the current semester. In addition to the current information from the course catalog (VVZ), the corresponding links provide details on the schedule and content of the events.

The lecture as well as the corresponding exercises will be held in English.

Winter semester: Electron Microscopy I with practical exercises
Summer semester: Electron Microscopy II with practical exercises

The LEM offers the KIT Electron Microscopy Seminar in cooperation with institutes from Campus North. External guests or KIT scientists report on their current work and developments in the field of electron microscopy. After the lecture there is always time for discussion.

The KIT electron microscopy seminar take place during the semester, on Mondays at 11:00 in room 229.3 of the Physics Flat Building (Campus South, building 30.22). Click here to find the current seminar plan
